[Hello! VP's 9pasha here.] [Today we'll check our knowledge of France.] [Shall we begin?] [Name three cities in France] You're asking and I'm answering?
That's the point, yes? [Name three cities in France] Marseille, Marseille, Lyon, Marseille, Lyon, Chame-lyon! It's Lyon's suburb. Paris... Ahh, I'm too nervous!.. I'm way too nervous, ah!.. How's it called?.. Let's start over! It's too tough! Paris, Cannes, Nice. Paris, Nice, and... ...I don't know, it's too hard. And Joué-lès-Tours! Marseilles! Haven't tried the snails, frogs, and roaches, though. Yeah, I've tried frogs. Together with some French wine, too. French steak cut, French fries... and, maybe... Well, damn, I know French cuisine a bit, I just haven't tried it too much. I recommend Armenian cuisine. [Name some French cultural sites] There are some places in Paris so well-known that it would be just banal to name them. [Name some French cultural sites] So, there's an Eiffel Tower... Well, what else is there?.. Notre Dame! Naming the Eiffel Tower would be repeating ourselves, I guess. But they don't have anything besides the Eiffel Tower - HA, just kidding. It was a joke. Please laugh. Yeah, there are other cultural sites in France - there's so many of them! And because there's so many of them, let's not waste our time trying to name them all, shall we? Nah, nah... Don't know. [Name three French musicians] Damn, what was her name - the one who sang on the street like that: [Name three French musicians] Damn, what was her name - the one who sang on the street like that: Zaz? Right, Zaz - that girl's voice is amazing. There's this French band - called Mihai Edrisch. I'm their fan. Amanda Woodward - another band. And something else French... I don't know... Who sings that song: [does his best imitating]. I don't know who that is! One more French musician... I don't know. I already named my two favorite French bands - if any of you guys recognized them, reply in the comments! You're telling me they know someone besides Zaz? ArsZeeqq knows French bands? That's because he was preparing for this. Patricia Kaas. Edith Piaf. I love her works. Yes, there's this one super brilliant and popular song... But I don't remember the name nor the singer. Don't remember them, actually. Something like that. [Name your favorite French movie] A French movie? Is "Leon: The Professional" French? [Name your favorite French movie] A French movie? Is "Leon: The Professional" French? "The Toy" - is it French? Even though it's good, it's not the best, I think. I'm just trying to recall what they have. They do have a lot of good movies, so it's hard to remember them all. "Leon"? That guy who plays him - he stars in so many French movies - what's his name? That French movie with that... bald guy! Yeah, bald! Wait, he's not bald! Jean Reno - all the movies that guy plays in are simply masterpieces. That's, of course, just my personal opinion. I know of Gerard Depardieu's movies, and also "Leon: The Professional". I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard that it's very good, so I want to see it soon. "Leon". "Le-on". Not a big fan of French movies. "Taxi", heh. French movies? Let's say "Taxi". An awesome movie, actually, loved it as a kid - the first one, and the rest, too! But the team’s beginnings were a lot worse. The Shanghai Dragons were the first team to get a name and brand when the Overwatch League was rolling those out. A few months later, they revealed their roster, an all-Chinese team, made up of players from various strong Overwatch rosters in China. But the wheels came off the wagon pretty fast. The team went 0-2 in the pre-season, losing 4-0 to Seoul Dynasty and 3-2 to the Boston Uprising. (Casting) Then in Week 1, they lost to the LA Gladiators and the San Francisco Shock.
And then they lost to the Houston Outlaws and the Florida Mayhem, 4-0 both times. It was around this point people realized that Shanghai had a problem. And team manager Yang Van released a statement agreeing with that https://oncasinogames.com/free-spins-bonus/. It was also in that statement that he revealed that the team had a grueling training regimen. Practicing from 10:30 AM each day until midnight. But Van also said that the team was hungry for their first victory. (Casting) After getting summarily dunked on for the rest of Stage 1, the Dragons returned for Stage 2 with an overhauled roster. Made up of those aforementioned Korean players, all of whom were considered some of the best in their positions out of players not yet in the Overwatch League. (Casting) So that didn’t work. After three more weeks of straight losses, head coach U4 stepped down, he was replaced by Kong as interim coach and later by RUI as the new head coach. It mostly did nothing for the team. They went 0-16 in maps after U4 left. Then, between Stage 2 and 3, the Dragons dropped Undead, their superstar DPS player. Well, as much of a Star as any 0-20 team can really have on their roster. Everything related to Undead’s departure is hearsay, but there were plenty of allegations online that he cheated on multiple partners. Either way, even without their star player, it’s not like things could get much worse for Shanghai. In fact, things are starting to look a little bit better. They picked up their best map record in Stage 3, going 9-0-32, picking up DPS player Daemin to replace Undead. Things were finally looking up for the Shanghai Dragons. But whatever light the Shanghai Dragons saw at the end of their tunnel was quickly covered up by a cave in. (Casting) Shanghai actually ended the fourth and final stage of the Overwatch League with the worst record they’d had since stage 2. That’s right, they actually managed to do worse. (Casting) With everything said and done, the Shanghai Dragons won 21 maps, tied 2, and lost 141. The next-worst team in the league, the Florida Mayhem, won double the amount of maps. And while they only won seven matches, at least they made it competitive. Sometimes. And again, it’s not like the Shanghai Dragons were abject garbage. A lot of their players were strong, individual players. But they struggled when it came to playing as a team. (Casting) Part of that might stem from the fact that Kong has told the Korean players on the team not to communicate in Korean during the game. Instead, he’s having the players speak in English or Chinese, meaning a large chunk of the roster, arguably the most mechanically solid part, was having trouble communicating with the rest of the team. But no matter the reason, the Shanghai Dragons did it. They went a whole season without a single win and 40 losses. They are officially, the losingest team in major esports history. But hey, There’s no relegation, so at least we get to see them try it all over again next year. There are a few incredible records in esports. Take the 2015 Fnatic League of Legends roster, that went undefeated in their Summer regular season. Or Smash 4 player ZeRo, who won 56 tournaments during that game’s first year. Or Ninjas in Pyjamas, who dominated the earliest days of CS:GO with a 87-map LAN win-streak. But despite all the victories, all the undefeated records, there are very few teams who've managed to pull off the exact opposite. Only one team was bad enough, unlucky enough, cosmically unloved enough to pull off the longest winless streak in esports history.
One team that totally overhauled their roster, and kicked their best player in the middle of the season. Ladies and gentlemen, pros and scrubs of all ages, let’s talk about the longest losing streak in esports history. Let’s talk about the Shanghai Dragons. The Shanghai Dragons just completed the first season of the Overwatch League with an unprecedented 0-40 record. Yeah you heard that right, 0-40. We checked, and while plenty of teams have come close to that record, no one has ever actually achieved it. At least not in a major esports league. There are plenty of League of Legends teams that have pulled off one win seasons, and a good number that went winless, particularly in the LPL and the LMS. But a League of Legends split is significantly shorter than an Overwatch season. Notably, there are a few CS:GO teams that have gone an entire ESL Pro League season without winning, but they were all disqualified before the season ended, so they don’t really count. But the Shanghai Dragons. Now that is a losing streak. You have to get really deep into some obscure traditional sports to find any teams that's ever done worse. Across the board, no NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL team has done worse, with the longest losing streak there coming from the Philadelphia 76ers, who in 2015 lost 28 games straight across 2 seasons. "In the opening weeks of OWL, I've had my suspicions growing that for the Shanghai Dragons the league might actually be a punishment from the ancient Greek underworld." "The Shanghai Dragons seem condemned to an eternal torture, where victory is perpetually just a little bit out of reach." And here’s the weird thing, by the end of the season. The Shanghai Dragons roster didn't look that bad on paper. They had a strong lineup of Korean players who were mostly overlooked during the initial signing blitz ahead of the first season. Geguri, Ado, and Fearless are all solid players who helped the team improve significantly when they were signed partway through the first season. Stranger still, they may have come from Germany, far from their American origins and might actually be a hoax! Because they’re so freaky looking it’s easy to assume there’s something odd about them. So far it has been hard to say. 3. Voynich Manuscript Perhaps no artifact is as strange as the Voynich Manuscript.
Found by a rare book dealer in 1912, after who it was named, it stunned experts at first because it was full of strange images and descriptions that appeared to be deeply weird and alien. The text was unusual as if it were written in code, and it had many illustrations of naked ladies and plant life that doesn’t exist. Wild stuff right? Could it have been a record of something extraterrestrial from way back in history? Researchers nixed that theory by revealing it was actually a copy of an ancient text that was produced in the Middle Ages. The language in the book was made up of Latin abbreviations of medical words, relating to women’s health. There were also pictures of stuff like people holding magnets in the bath. Might sound strange, but magnets were seen as a way to promote good health in the 15th century. Based on this, writer and researcher Nicholas Gibbs concluded the Voynich Manuscript was a knock off of an old guide to medicine aimed at female patients. But the results are inconclusive. To learn more about mysterious books, be sure to check out my video on the Most Mysterious Books in the World!! 2. Shroud of Turin One of the most famous artifacts in history is Shroud of Turin. It’s believed to be the cloth Jesus Christ was wrapped in when he was brought down from the cross. This sheet of linen seems to show the impression of a man and many consider it proof of the Son of God. But is it really him, and is the cloth really that old? This is a debate that’s been going on for centuries. The cloth is 4.4m (14 ft) x 1.1m (4 ft) and shows a bearded man about 1.75m tall (5’7). He’s got various wounds and the linen is stained red, presumably from blood. The nature of the wounds look like crucifixion marks as seen on the wrists, his side, forehead, torso and legs. The Roman Catholic Church has watched over the Shroud since 1983. Before that, it was the property of the royal House of Savoy who owned it for centuries. It’s found in the Royal Chapel of the Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Turin, Italy but don’t expect to see it anytime soon. It is only on display on special occasion and it looks like you’ll have to wait till 2025 for your next opportunity! How the image was created is not known. Some believe it’s like a photographic process because of the way the image appeared when photographed in 1898. To the photographer’s surprise when he looked at the negative the image seemed positive, which was really strange and spooky. What’s also strange is when it was carbon dated the Shroud was judged as only 728 years old. So who was this man and where did this cloth come from?? 1. Antikythera Mechanism We know that when computers were first invented they were huge. But somehow, the ancients were able to make a small computer thousands of years ago!! Believed to come from Ancient Greece, it’s an early - very early! - example of an analog computer like a slide rule and is made from bronze and wood. It was discovered in 1900 inside a Roman shipwreck off the coast of the island of Kythera in the Aegean Sea. That’s where it got its name of ‘Antikythera’, meaning ‘opposite Kythera’. 30 bronze gears are contained in a wooden box and it took a long time for the find to be recognized as significant. Divers were more interested in all the Roman coins and clay pottery found in the shipwreck. By the 1970s in-depth studies were taking place about what the Antikythera Mechanism was. Legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau recovered some of the missing pieces giving experts even more insight into the device. But what did it actually do? The 3400 Greek characters inscribed on the Mechanism’s dials and rings show it’s supposed to be an astronomical clock, enabling the user to calculate things like lunar cycles and planetary movements. Some believe you can also use it to predict the future. Thanks for watching! What did you think was the strangest artifact?? Let us know in the comments!! Be sure to subscribe and see you soon! Byeee! Trevor “TmarTn” Martin (Stream) and Tom “ProSyndicate” Cassell (Stream) are two popular YouTubers, who, in late 2015, came up with an incredible scheme to make them rich. (Stream) They were going to run a classic casino scam. (Stream) Specifically, they were going to get people hooked on a CS:GO gambling site that they owned but not tell anybody that they owned it.
"We found this new site, called CS:GO Lotto." It had all the makings of a great scam. "Dude you could just swing for the fences with one bet, and just come way up five grand." The only problem was that CS:GO gambling was a massive underground industry that chugged along in the dark alleys beneath the squeaky clean exterior of CS:GO esports http://casinoslots-sa.co.za/live-dealer-casinos . And these two dinguses managed to explode and expose one of gaming's biggest grey markets with just a few simple videos. (Stream) It all started in December 2015, when TmarTn incorporated CSGO Lotto, a CS:GO skin gambling site. Now, while the trend has died down a little, CS:GO skin gambling was all the rage just a few years ago. See, every skin is bought and sold on the steam marketplace which gives it a real world value. Now if you sold a skin on the steam marketplace right now you'd get steam credit but, there are plenty of ways to turn those skins into cold hard cash. There were two primary ways to gamble with skins. You could either bet on the results of an esports match, or play a game, like roulette. (Stream) But cashing out through these gambling sites and steam bots, only gave you the value you won in skins. The real game came in the skin grey market, websites that let you trade your skins to someone else in exchange for money through say, PayPal. It was just like a real casino. Well... almost. Basically you turn your real human Earth money into skins. Either by buying them in the steam marketplace, or buying keys to open crates that contain them. You took your skins to the gambling site of your choice, traded them to their bots for a new, fake currency that was roughly equivalent to US dollars, which they were your casino chips. You then bet that money with that currency on either matches or roulette spins to win more money. Which you then turned back into skins. And finally, you sold those skins to someone through another site to get back real human Earth money. And now that you understand how skin gambling works, you might be asking to yourself, "How was all this legal?" Well, it wasn't. At least, not technically. See, a lot of these sites skirted around gambling regulations by arguing that technically, you weren’t gambling with money. You were gambling with a virtual item. And while it had real-world value, you could technically get it through a random crate or a drop. And then, you weren’t winning money, just skins. And yes, skins do have real world value, but Valve didn’t let you get that money natively through Steam. We’ll be coming back to the legality of all this later on, but for now remember that CS:GO, a game with a massive underage audience had a powerful and prevalent underground gambling scene. So TmarTn and his associates, including another popular YouTuber, ProSyndicate, Started CS:GO Lotto.com. A skin-gambling site to profit off of the craze. But they took it one step further. You don’t make money if no one is gambling at your casino, but advertising is expensive. And CS:GO Lotto had plenty of competition. Meanwhile ProSyndicate and TmarTn had massive YouTube channels. Each with millions of subscribers. If they could get the word about CS:GO Lotto to their huge audiences, they were guaranteed to see at least some success. (Stream) But, more importantly neither YouTuber mentioned the fact they were part-owners of CS:GO Lotto.com. They just kept making videos. Winning money and losing money on roulette spins and coin flips just like they were anybody else and not part-owners of the website. (Stream) But someone noticed. A YouTuber called HonorTheCall released a video on June 27, 2016 that first made the allegations that Tmartn and ProSyndicate were part-owners of CS:GO Lotto.com "Hold onto your pants it's about to go down, this may be the biggest scandal in CoD community which has nothing to do with Call of Duty." "Let me be clear here, I'm not accusing anyone, I found some info and I want to show it to my viewers." "So TmarTn and ProSyndicate visit a CS:GO gambling site called CS:GO Lotto.com. I did some digging into this and holy sh*t balls." "This site was registered as a business in Orlando Florida, I thought it's just a coincidence since TmarTn also lives in Orlando. But no it wasn't, Trevor Martin, aka TmarTn is the director of this site, he f***ing owns the damn site." He also accused the pair of faking their reactions to their big wins and losses in their YouTube videos. "These two on the website CS:GO Lotto.com and they allegedly do fake gambling and pretend to win thousands of dollars and also sometimes pretend to lose it too." Those claims were further backed up by popular YouTube channel H3H3 Productions, who released a video going over HonorTheCall’s allegations and pointed out that whether or not TmarTn and ProSyndicate were manipulating the results, the fact that they could just wasn't a good look. "So here he fairy tale story, you know, 50 dollars up to thousands." "In a thirteen minute video." "Terrific stuff here guys." (Stream) "Do you think it's possible he faked his reaction and faked the actual results of the bet?" "It's possible, it's very possible." "I don't know if he did but it's possible, and that's why you don't gamble on your own site." "It doesn't need to be sent, it's just, it's obscene." So with all the allegations out there, how did TmarTn and ProSyndicate react? Well Syndicate took the high ground and apologized and promised to be more transparent in the future but he's been in trouble for doing things like this before, so it remains to be seen how genuine that was. But TmarTn doubled down. "What's going on guys, TmarT here and I hope you guys having a fantastic Monday I just wanted to make a quick little vlog to talk to you guys and to kinda lay everything out on the line. Give you guys the full true story straight from the source. Because unfortunately, and I really, I don't understand kind of where it's coming from but there is gonna be a little bit of a storm headed this way and some of the drama channels are gonna pick up on it. I'm sure a lot of the hater channels are gonna pick up on it. But I wanted you guys to know exactly what's going on so you guys can make your own well-informed decisions. So basically what's breaking news now, is that myself and a few other people including Tom or ProSyndicate own CS:GO Lotto. And this is something that has never been a secret. I don't understand why this is big breaking news now because it's never been under wraps. It's never been a secret." The problem is that it was a secret. At least to his viewers. And that caught the attention of the United States Federal Trade Commission, who didn't take kindly to the whole situation. And launched and investigation into both TmarTn and ProSyndicate. A few days after that. Tmartn released an apology video that he quickly took down, Probably because the FTC was already after him. ParaRealm
Copyright © January 2012 ASIN: B006VOQBIO A Gripping Story, an Entertaining Paranormal THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS: A THRILLER by Richard Stone is the first book in his Last Man thriller series. despite the fact that at first I had problems knowing where I was, distinguishing up from down, at times unable to tell who was saying what to whom. COMMUNION deals with the anguish of a man fighting the forces of change, his resistance on the road to belief, grace, salvation—whatever you want to call it. It deals with the agony of confusion. The author tells the reader that the novel takes place in Grand Rapids. If so, it’s not the Grand Rapids I know. Matter of fact, apart from a rare nightmare and the odd hallucination, the story’s reality is not one with which I am familiar. But, okay, I thought, time to stretch the mind. So I picked up the book and soon could not put it down. I decided to write my essay about this book to describe my emotions. The story starts when Otto meets his friend, Thomas, in a bar. They bump into a weird cast of characters. Otto’s adventures begin. Otto is overcome by, chased by, fights off wave upon wave of paranormal creatures, a huge cast of celestial beings who fight for the heart and soul of this man—angels, devils, super human men and women. They intrigue us with wings and scales and power. All the while, the reader wonders what’s going to happen to Otto. Which Otto, you might ask, for there are two—the Otto who has long been the “project” of his fire and brimstone friend, Thomas, and “Other Otto,” his erstwhile alter ego. Otto, it seems, is changing. In his quest (or test), Otto revisits somewhat familiar territory now grown wild and distinctly other. But assuredly Otto is in an altered state of reality, a place called Underground. Being human, he is under the influence of devilish creatures. Along the way he meets former friends, new ones, and celestials—from seraphs to devils, all with supernatural powers. And he has guides—Constance (my favorite), Anna, Regina—and a father, Frank, who looks for him. Not only is the landscape Kafkaesque but the place itself is one of the main characters. Otto is constantly on the brink. In the end we find out that … but, no, I won’t spoil it for you. THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS has a gripping storyline played out on a burnt-out stage, a set worthy of Orlando Furioso or Batman, but influenced by the traditional Judeo-Christian worldview. It has a definite beginning, middle, and an end that will surprise. If you are a reader into paranormal thriller, you will love this book. Presentation. That said, there are numerous typos and this edition could use a proofreading scrub behind the ears. And the ebook formatting isn’t perfect. Sometimes typesetter marks are used, other times, not. My Rating: 4 Stars Review 82: Natalie’s Good Fortune by Anthony R. Fannin
Hunger sets in and Natalie comes across a group of cannibals. She approaches them in desperation. And obviously, the mad men attack her. John is a former privateer and pirate himself, with a cunning reputation well known across the Atlantic and the Caribbean. A battle of wits and of the sexes soon plays out between John and Natalie as he kids her about her prim and proper upbringing, all the while still respecting her as a lady, and Natalie becomes determined to hold her own and get off the island and to the American coast however she can. While working on a boat for their escape, John teaches Natalie how to gather food and how to fight with a sword. The scenes involving a coconut tree and a bamboo sword are both fun and hilarious at times! And Natalie gets to test out her skills sooner than she expected when savages attack again. Finally, the day comes when John and Natalie’s boat is ready to take to sea. John so aptly names the boat NATALIE’S GOOD FORTUNE in honor of Natalie’s hard work and determination. But things don’t get much better when they are off the island. Natalie must soon put her new skills to test when they come across boats of mad men, and eventually meet up with the pirates that originally captured the Bonny Lass. Besides the physicality of the book itself and the nicely paced storyline, I was impressed with Fanning’s characterization. Natalie is not treated as a stereotypical female character one might consider for this time and for this type of plot. Sure, she’s slowly made into a hero of sorts, but Natalie becomes much more than that. She definitely holds her own at a sea full of men. Fanning keeps the underlying sexism to a minimum, and says himself that he wanted to “create a fun story that was reminiscent of tales of adventure like Treasure Island.” And he has indeed done just that! Review 82: Natalie’s Good Fortune by Anthony R. Fannin
Natalie’s Good Fortune Natalie by Anthony R. Fanning Copyright: © 2006 Paperback $15.99 420 Pages ISBN: 9780615288499 I received a hard copy of Anthony R. Fanning’s book in the mail a few months ago. Opening the package, I discovered the book was wrapped in brown paper tied with cotton twine much like a treasure map. What a cool marketing idea, I thought! It really gave me a nice visual introduction to the book. Unwrapping the paper, I discovered a nice little 4.25″ x 6.88″ pocket size book totaling 430 pages and only 19 chapters! But it’s orange cover (the author has since changed the color) and pencil drawing of a young girl standing in front of an Old World Caribbean map appealed to me even more. I usually frown at 300+ pages in any book, but the small size of this book made it read more like 215. The book centers around Natalie Brennan Satterfield in the year 1722. The blurb on the back of the book calls her a “pampered and privileged sixteen year old daughter of a wealthy English merchant.” But don’t go judging Natalie just yet! I immediately thought of Keira Knightley’s character in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean had those films been more about her and less about Captain Jack Sparrow. Natalie is at sea on a ship called the Bonny Lass headed for the colonies. The story opens with the cook telling Natalie a horrible story about what a crew of pirates did to a young “lassie” who was aboard a vessel they took captive just a year ago. Just three chapters later, Natalie finds the Bonny Lass being taken captive by pirates and the cook’s wretched tale echoes in her ears. She manages to escape and soon finds herself marooned on an uncharted island in the Caribbean Sea, but Natalie quickly discovers she is not alone. |
